Hardware Compatibility

WeedPOS is designed to work with a wide range of standard point-of-sale hardware. This guide lists compatible devices by category, along with connection requirements and setup notes.

Browser requirement: WeedPOS runs in any modern web browser. For full hardware integration (scales via Web Serial API, USB HID scanners), we recommend Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows or macOS. Most USB scanners and printers also work with other browsers via standard OS drivers.

Barcode and QR Code Scanners

WeedPOS supports barcode and QR code scanners for member check-in and product lookup. Compatible connection types include USB HID (most common), Bluetooth, and serial.

Plug and play: Most USB HID scanners work without any configuration — plug in and scan. If your scanner is not detected, verify it is configured in HID keyboard emulation mode (not RS-232 mode) using the manufacturer's programming guide.

Cameras for QR Code Scanning

WeedPOS can use a connected webcam or built-in camera for QR code scanning using the browser's camera API. Recommended for clubs without a dedicated scanner.

Digital Scales

Scale integration requires Chrome or Edge browser with Web Serial API support (HTTPS context). WeedPOS communicates with scales via USB-to-serial (RS-232) adapters or native USB serial scales.

Receipt Printers

WeedPOS supports standard ESC/POS thermal receipt printers. Most printers that work with other POS software will work with WeedPOS.

Cash Drawers

Standard cash drawers that connect via receipt printer kick port or direct USB are supported. WeedPOS triggers the cash drawer automatically when a cash transaction is completed.

NFC membership card check-in requires the NFC Access Control add-on and a compatible USB NFC reader.

WeedPOS runs in any modern browser. Minimum recommended specifications:

Processor: Intel Core i3 or equivalent (2015 or later)
RAM: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended
Display: 1280×800 minimum resolution; touchscreen supported
Browser: Chrome 90+, Edge 90+, Firefox 90+, Safari 14+
For scale integration: Chrome or Edge required (Web Serial API)
Internet connection: Required for cloud sync; limited offline mode available

Recommended Starter Hardware Bundle

For clubs setting up WeedPOS for the first time, this is our recommended minimum hardware configuration:
